The servers allow a few organizations to control the internet.

When there is control, there is a possibility of censorship.
NeuroNodes allows the internet to be distributed from many different points, so it is difficult to control.

Support NeuroNodes to create a freer internet.

Wanted to start doing Distributed.Net again.

Two machines are now running dnetc, a rPi5 and i5-6600 (4c).

**Resume:**
The article explains how IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) can operate over Yggdrasil, a cryptographically secured P2P network, to enable fully decentralized, encrypted, and censorship-resistant data sharing. Benefits include automatic encryption, simplified peer discovery, and global connectivity without relying on centralized servers. The setup involves installing IPFS, running a Yggdrasil node, configuring IPFS to use Yggdrasil’s interface, and verifying node communication. Limitations include potential speed reduction and accessibility issues with non-Yggdrasil IPFS nodes. This integration is positioned as a robust solution for secure, decentralized content distribution.

How Does IPFS Work Through Yggdrasil?

I downloaded #Jami to test it out but even though they state their communication are #P2P you still need to create an account and therefore connect to a server...

This is not what I want...

When the connection was bad we had all these P2P applications, now that the connection is good we do not have anything that is P2P anymore, perhaps for communication there is still #Briar but it looks to me a bit extreme: it is also one of those applications that once you use it quickly you have all the security agencies targeting you... 🤔

I can't avoid to think that P2P application were criminalized because inconvenient since authorities and governments can't shutdown distributed networks. Speaking of communication software today we have plenty of solutions that are challenging to each others to be most privacy oriented, but all rely on a centralized server, this means that governments and law enforcement — of any grade — have a single point of attack if they want silence or tracking down someone or the entire network.

The ones behind these projects will reply to me the reason for a centralized server is to provide the best service possible to their users/customers, and while this sound reasonable I think that I don't need the state of the art of the open source communication software that aims to compete to the proprietary counterparts, on the contrary I need a service that is managed by nobody, and it is resilient because distributed. I don't care about quality of service or performance, I care about freedom, sustainability and resiliency (intended as distributed network). These are the characteristic I would like to have for my messaging and conference software.

#Mastadon and #federated social networks in general are cool and all, but I really think #SecuShare is the (distant) future.

I don’t believe it could ever make it off the ground in a capitalist system, due to a number of reasons, but installing it on literally every device by default, then managing the code through a system of liquid democracy seems like it’d be an easy W for humanity.
