And yeah, as you might have noticed recently, Distribute Aid is where I run the Open Source Explorers program, but I’m only tangentially and indirectly involved in the humanitarian work by hopefully making the tech happen that helps things run more smoothly. It’s the work that our logistics and admin teams do that is so vital, but it’s only possible if people donate to fund their work.

Today, we finally launched Open Source Explorers! If any of you know people who would like to get involved in open source but have found it difficult to get into, would you please let them know about our little program?

We’re looking for developers but also specifically for participants who are not developers, e.g. designers, translators, etc. And, yes, we’re building this program especially with folks from marginalised communities in mind because, despite good intentions, OSS isn’t always as welcoming as we’d like it to be, so we want to remove some barriers and get more folks into open source.

Also: participants will be indirectly contributing to humanitarian aid delivery, which is kinda neat, I think.

#JSONata 2 has switched from a synchronous to an asynchronous API (which brings speed improvements), but now I am looking for the idiomatic #React way to deal with a lot of async calls in render functions.

Stuff like this:

- {!isHidden(response) && <Response />}

this wont work with `await isHidden`. So do I need to put all of these expressions in `useEffect`?
