Dieses Projekt hat sich ein bisschen weiterentwickelt. Ich habe einen kleinen Sensorknoten gebaut, der Temperatur, Luftfeuchtigkeit und Luftqualität in der Wohnung erfasst. Es ist einfach ein ESP32-C3 Zero mit einem BME680-Sensor, der mit meinem lokalen MQTT-Broker spricht.

Das Gerät hostet seine eigene Weboberfläche für die Einrichtung – WLAN, MQTT-Topics und Schlafintervalle werden dort konfiguriert. Keine Cloud, kein Vendor-Lock-in, keine Dritt-Apps. Home Assistant zieht die Werte per MQTT und kümmert sich um Historie und Alarmierung.

Das Ganze kostet fast nichts. Wenn ein Board stirbt, flashe ich ein Ersatzgerät, gebe die gleichen Zugangsdaten ein, und es läuft sofort.

Akkulaufzeit bei 10-minütlicher Aktualisierung ca. 2-4 Monate.

Ich habe einen lokalen Remote-Power-Controller für meinen PC gebaut.
Keine Cloud, kein Abo, kein „Server wird eingestellt, Gerät wird zum Briefbeschwerer“.

Aktueller Prototyp läuft auf einem ESP32 WROOM. Für das Gehäuse habe ich eine Vorlage genutzt und diese Angepasst für das Relais-Modul und aus ASA gedruckt.

Ein Relais-Modul hängt parallel am PC-Frontpanel-Powerbutton.
Befehle gehen per MQTT an einen lokalen Broker auf meinem Homeserver.

Niemand in irgendeinem Rechenzentrum kann mir die Hardware per Fernzugriff abschalten oder über TOS-Updates entwerten.

Die Box unterstützt derzeit zwei Kommandos: Kurzer Druck schaltet normal ein/aus. Langer Druck erzwingt einen Hard-Shutdown bei Hängern.

Für die nächste Version wechsle ich auf einen ESP-C3 – deutlich kleiner, günstiger und passt in viel kleineres Gehäuse. Strom bezieht es direkt über das ATX-Netzteil (Das liefert auch bei ausgeschaltetem PC 5V).

This is going to be a long shot, mostly because I suspect most people here (or at least see this) are more on the technical side of things...

I'm looking for tips and resources to help people who don't live and breathe this type of stuff to help them #decloud and move off services that are becoming less friendly and more of a potential threat. Talking NASes, Nextcloud/Owncloud, etc might be a bit of a stretch, as "I only understood Dropbox" was a response I got in a chat.

Gotta help em all...

Soon my DropBox will be empty. I could, if I wanted, easily host my files on the web for the cost of a $30 computer on a chip.

Over the summer I have been thinking a lot about data ownership and #decloud - I built myself an unraid server with lots of disks to run NextCloud and a bunch of other stuff. This seems too difficult for most folks. Not sure of the answer.
