A quick walk up to the bookstore had an intellectual rabbit hole, which I have not indulged: a protest in front of the #CVRD building in downtown #DuncanBC.

Does anyone on #VancouverIsland have an idea what is being protested? a number of signs about government over-reach, and 'vote no!'

It was great seeing you via zoom at the #CVRD RA meeting last night.

I was very interested by the question you (and your team) fielded about video campaigns on #SocialMedia - if a bit embarrassed by the awkwardness.

I wanted to mention @ScottishGreens and the Green Party . org . uk (who may be on BlueSky?) Their very viral video campaigns have been amazing, whenever they get to the #Fediverse.

The #Cowichan Valley Regional District (#CVRD) is reminding people here in #BC that #compost service providers **REFUSE** loads which include so-called 'compostable' #plastic bags.

The bags **do not** compost. They disintegrate into micro-sized plastic pieces. They are still plastic chemical compounds, and they are still pollution, sometimes toxic.

Composting is not a massive expense, but compostable bags make it more expensive. And we all pay for it, one way or another.

So #HarbourAir the float plane company, just cancelled all my flights for the next 2 months. They've added it to the "seasonal" route list, meaning no flights on weekdays after Oct 5, and only the occasional weekend flight until next summer.

Result: If you want to travel to #Vancouver from the #Cowichan #CVRD, you need to add an extra hour each way and pay to get to Nanaimo.
