GenAI Strategy: Bullets then Cannonballs

This post is part of a series exploring how faculty leaders can develop generative artificial intelligence strategies specific to disciplines in K-12 and higher education. The first post gave an overview of the strategic planning process. The next post followed up by encouraging you to attack your assessments. If you haven't already, you should read those posts before progressing on to this stage of the strategic planning. The introduction of mainstream generative artificial intelligence at […]

GenAI Strategy: Update your Assessments

This series addresses developing generative AI strategy in education. The AI Assessment Scale, covering No AI to Full AI, is introduced for integrating AI responsibly. An audit tool is proposed to align existing assessments with the scale, preparing for potential adaptations. A pilot implementation approach is recommended before full adoption, stressing the importance of managing staff conflicts.

GenAI Strategy: Evaluate and Communicate

This is the fifth installment in a series on generative AI strategy for educators. The focus is on evaluating the impact of AI on education, synthesising feedback with AI tools, and updating the faculty's vision accordingly. The strategy emphasises ethical and responsible AI integration, continuous evaluation, and sharing findings with the broader community.

GenAI Strategy for Faculty Leaders

When I work with K-12 schools, the approach to generative artificial intelligence (AI) guidelines generally begins with an audit of current policy documents that relate to digital technologies, such as user agreements, cyber safety policies, and communications. The goal is to identify areas where GenAI needs to be taken into account, without necessarily writing entirely new policies. Once a broad strokes approach is established, it usually falls back to the assistant principals and […]

GenAI Strategy: Attack Your Assessments

This post is part of a series exploring how faculty and middle leaders can begin to think strategically about Generative AI. In the previous post, I gave an overview of a six-step strategy, beginning with establishing a clear vision. In this post, I'm going to go deeper into attacking your assessments. UPDATE: Less than 24 hours after posting this, OpenAI announced the release of GPT-4o, their new FREE model. This makes the paid model, GPT-4, available to all users via web, mobile, and a new […]

Active and Inclusive Teaching of Literacy and Communication Skills for Enhanced Employment and Sustainable Economic Growth

The monograph presents a part of the research work within the project "Active and Inclusive Teaching of Literacy and Communication Skills for Enhanced Employment and Sustainable Economic Growth (In-Comm Guide)," and underscores the significance of communication skills for both business success and personal development. These skills are deemed essential not only in academic achievements but also in the professional realm, with employers actively seeking them in prospective candidates. The monograph emerges as a product of the Erasmus+ initiative – the project was supported by the European Union and overseen by the Slovenian national agency CMEPIUS. Encompassing a consortium of institutions including the University of Maribor, University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, University of Pula, and University of Udine, the project aimed to develop communication skills curricula. This focus sought to bolster students' readiness for the job market while emphasizing non-verbal communication, sign languages, and linguistic proficiency, particularly in English. Within the monograph, the emphasis on innovative teaching methodologies, intercultural communication, and students' well-being converge. Moreover, attention is directed toward individuals with hearing impairments and the significance of non-verbal communication.
