Floating an exploratory balloon here...
If I was to fundraise to hire someone to help me build a #convalescentCommunities home in #guelph #ontario as a pilot project others could copy and customize around the world, would you kick in for that? If so ballpark amount?

Basically a long slow care home for #longCovid and #chonicIllness where folks can get the time out and care to stabilize and manage their illness.

I'd call it #turtleBower FYI, so we have a tag to centre discussion around.

So things are bad in my world. I have a bunch of mostly unconnected people who want to help, but I haven't even got the chuff to organize them. So I am casting out to see who wants to help. Basically need someone to manage a slack or discord or something for people who want to help me build a convalescent intentional community in Guelph. If you have spare chuff and like building environments for people to work and organize I'd love to hear from you. 💖 I can't do this alone.

Ok! We have a discord group to discuss building a shared-support convalescent community in #Guelph that can hopefully be a model for other #convalescentCommunities

Like the pacing I do in my regular life, this will be broken up into small tasks we can plunk away at. So if you are interested but only have a few hours a months, join us!

Most of this will be done remotely, so if you don't live here, join us anyway!

There's more info at #convalescentCommunities for anyone who wants to poke around. I just don't have the chuff to comprehensively outline what I have learned and what the current gameplan is. But I believe there is a path to making this happen and soon.

There's huge change in policy around housing and disability poverty and healthcare happening right now.

The #invalidClass is growing (sadly) but that gives us a larger voice to shape what happens next.

@sammi Thanks for the suggestions but I am not a senior and I have spent several years trying to access these services. They are either unavailable or inappropriate for my needs. It has been heartbreaking and humiliating TBO.

I need to be in a kind of care for #chronicIllness folks that doesn't exist yet. Basically hospice care for ppl not dying. Light support, focus on comfort and quality of life, rest and hopefully some recovery.

I offer:
- Adoration of all pets and plants (am limited, but can help keep both alive).
- Dark humour.
- Spontaneous dance breaks.
- Instruction on health recovery tai chi, meditation, pillow nest building, n such if ya want it.
- $$$ I don't aim to freeload, it's just the support I need doesn't exist (yet!) and I need some stability so I have the spare spoons to start building #convalescentCommunities for myself and others.

I am looking to hire a social worker or equivalent in Ontario for 5-10hrs/mo. Eastern ON area, but can likely do remote.

Need someone hip with the complex bureaucracy of supports. But more importantly someone innovative, wanting to explore and foster change and create new things - because existing supports are shite.

And I am definitely pro-lufting. I keep windows open pretty much year round. Things feel stuffy and stale and gross otherwise. And I definitely can't breathe if it gets too hot inside.

I also like being able to hear outside noises when I can't be outside, the birds, the wind, the patter of rain.... and the smells. Can you smell weather?

I find the outdoors super therapeutic. I will often build pillow nests outside just to feel more alive, within my slothitude.

Rest, combined with nature would be at the core of what I am envisioning. Support with meals and household stuff, so spoons can be spent resting, walking, napping, sitting and staring at trees.

It soothes our souls while we rest and gently move our bodies.
