Ackerhunmeln bilden Völker mit bis zu 150 Tieren. Für dieses Volk baut die Königin Nester an trockenen Standorten. Hierzu zählen verlassene Nistkästen oder Vogelnester, Heuhaufen, Komposthaufen, Grasbüschel, Moospolster und trockenes Laub.
Die Hummeln ernähren sich rein vegetarisch und besuchen bei der Nahrungssuche eine Vielzahl von Blütenpflanzen. Jedoch entfernen sie sich hierfür selten mehr als 100 m vom Nest, da es sich bei Hummeln um Kurzstreckenflieger handelt. Sie bevorzugen Schwarz- und Taubnessel, Wicken, Wiesenklee, Rotklee, Brombeeren, Himbeeren, Johannisbeeren und alle heimischen Obstbäume.

Bombus pascuorum, the common carder bee, is a species of bumblebee present in most of Europe in a wide variety of habitats such as meadows, pastures, waste ground, ditches and embankments, roads, and field margins, as well as gardens and parks in urban areas and forests and forest edges.
