@vfrmedia THIS really grinds my gear:

IMHO there should be a "#FRAND-Clause" in #Copyright #laws around the globe, stating that if one's unwilling to sell / license at "fair, reasonable and non-discrimiatory" terms, their #Copyrights for #commercially licensed material gets canned.

  • Because the logic of claiming "damages" from "infringing individuals" falls completely flat if they ain't given the option to legitimately license it AT ALL!

@[email protected] what makes #piracy even *morally justifyable* is when there are *no legal means to obtain a physical copy and/or stream it*... - And whilst #delistings occur because a #StreamingService doesn't want to continue #licensing at the existing terms from the licensee, this is absurd [when the IP holder & licensee *IS THE SAME AS THE STREAMING PLATFORM IT'S BEEN DELISTED FROM!*](https://infosec.space/@kkarhan/115294707102153936) Like it's one thing when a #FreeTV station (like #SuperRTL) doesn't want to pay rising #licensing fees for certain shows when the IP holders (i.e. #Disney & #Viacom) decide to put it on their own non - #PayTV / #FTA - Stations (#DisneyChannel / #DisneyXD & #Nickelodeon) but *delisting own content* just to circumvent the pre - agreed-upon residual payments to cast & crew which are a cut of the #revenue of said show is just an absolute asshole move!

Imagine you tell everyone that you have this amazing #technology, and people #invest in your company because of it, but it's all a lie.

With Holmes and her blood test, we rightfully considered it #fraud. Yet, Elon and Bezos seem to get away with it.

One claimed his #AI drives cars #autonomously (in demos), making claims it will be available #commercially any time now.

The other claimed his stores have an #aidriven #checkout, while it was a bunch of folks reviewing #videofootage & deciding.

#Microsoft and #GitHub are trying to derail #Copilot code #copyright #legal fight
And so far, they might succeed: Where's the smoking gun?
Copilot & #OpenAI Codex were trained from tons of publicly available #sourcecode, including plaintiffs' GitHub repos, and other materials. When presented with prompt by a user, #AI models will generate #code snippets in response, using materials it learned from. But is this the meaning of #opensource? And can it be used #commercially?

Microsoft and GitHub are still trying to derail Copilot code copyright legal fight

Copyright covers it.

Search/social media companies show a #snippet of the #article, and #link back to the original #site to read the full #article. That's fine, and shouldn't need #payment.

But if they're #copying more of the original article than is necessary for that purpose, eliminating those visits to the original site and benefiting #commercially, they're #violating the site's #copyright, and should pay #damages and #penalties for that.

#Artificial #Intelligence Might Put #Musicians out of #Work

In the #future, #music will be #composed by #humans and #machines #working together. #Amper is a #commercially available #ArtificialIntelligence music #composing #software. It’s the first step towards a #world in which humans and machines #collaborate to make music.
