#Russia channel “Insider Black” reveals[^1] some background behind disbanding of the #neonazi 88th Brigade ‘Española’ that I wrote about three days ago.[^2]

According to the authors, the losses the unit suffered in #ChasivYar were significant but the decisive factor was its conflict with #Chechen units. Like any proper Russian nationalists, the neo-nazis from ‘Española’ hated Chechens and especially Kadyrovites with whom they competed for resources, status and fame:

The essence of the Chechen side’s complaints lies not only in everyday or road incidents on the front line, but also in a deep confrontation between mentalities, discipline and internal hierarchy. Over the course of several months, conflicts arose repeatedly: sometimes because of refusal to obey the orders of Chechen officers, sometimes literally because of road disputes, when Espanola fighters were required to give way to Caucasians.

In addition to the flexing, normal for any well-developed ten years old, both sides also insulted each other, desperately trying to prove who’s more dedicated “Putin’s warrior”:

The conflict was particularly exacerbated by public statements made by Espanola, in which Chechen fighters were repeatedly referred to as ‘special forces in slippers’ — this phrase went viral and caused a storm of indignation in Grozny. In turn, Chechen public forums actively discussed demands to withdraw or disband Orlov’s battalion (‘The Spaniard’) as a source of inter-ethnic tension on the front line.

In the past, Chechens managed to “convince” their Russian critics to apologise, which resulted in funny videos with tough boys like Milchakov literally looking like that five years old caught on stealing cookies.[^3] But these were single individuals, while ‘Española’ was a whole unit, so Kadyrov must have used his ties in Kremlin

#Ukraine's military intelligence, #partisans blow up bus carrying #Chechen soldiers in occupied Melitopol

A joint operation of intelligence officers & partisans, a minibus carrying 5 #Akhmat soldiers exploded on outskirts of #Melitopol. All five soldiers aboard were killed in the blast.

The explosion also wounded two #Russian #soldiers in a nearby vehicle and destroyed an electronic warfare (EW) system, the agency said.
