Il Tempo: Belgio choc, permesso d'uscita a Mohamed Bakkali: partecipò agli attentati di Parigi 2015

Uno degli uomini condannati per gli attentati islamisti di Parigi del 2015 in cui persero la vita 130 persone - tra lo Stade de France, i locali del centro di Parigi e il Bataclan  - ha ottenuto il diritto a un permesso di uscita dal carcere in Belgio. Mohamed Bakkali potrà dunque temporaneamente uscire dal carcere di Ittre, a sud della capitale, dove sta scontando una condanna a 30 anni. "Il tribunale ha preso questa decisione nonostante l'opposizione dell'accusa - ha affermato la procura di Bruxelles - L'accusa non ha diritto di appello e la decisione è quindi definitiva. Spetta al direttore del carcere attuarl"
La decisione consentirà a Bakkali, il coordinatore logistico degli attentati del 13 novembre che hanno sconvolto il mondo, di uscire dal carcere sei volte per 36 ore ciascuna. Questa notizia sta suscitando particolari critiche e malumori. "Chevergogna - ha detto il deputato di destra Denis Ducarme durante una seduta parlamentare, lamentando una banalizzazione del terrorismo - Questa decisione sembra voltare le spalle alla memoria delle vittime". Il ministro della Giustizia Annelies Verlinden ha detto che il permesso è stato concesso "a condizioni molto rigide" dopo "attenta valutazione del caso".
 Nel 2022, un tribunale francese ha condannato Bakkali a 30 anni di carcere per aver aiutato gli attentatori affittando case e auto blindate e procurando documenti d'identità' falsi. È stato inoltre condannato a 25 anni di carcere in Belgio per il suo ruolo nell'attentato a un treno ad alta velocità diretto a Parigi, in cui due passeggeri sono rimasti feriti. Le autorità belghe lo hanno estradato in Francia per essere processato, a condizione che tornasse in Belgio per scontare la pena.

One of the men convicted for the 2015 Islamist attacks in Paris, in which 130 people died – at the Stade de France, Paris city center venues, and the Bataclan – has obtained the right to a temporary leave from prison in Belgium. Mohamed Bakkali will therefore temporarily be able to leave the Ittre prison, south of the capital, where he is serving a 30-year sentence. “The prosecution has taken this decision despite the opposition of the defense – stated the Brussels prosecutor – The prosecution has no right of appeal and the decision is therefore final. It is up to the prison director to implement it.”

The decision will allow Bakkali, the logistical coordinator of the November 13 attacks that shook the world, to leave prison six times for 36 hours each. This news is sparking particular criticism and discontent. “What shame – said right-wing MP Denis Ducarme during a parliamentary session, lamenting the trivialization of terrorism – This decision seems to turn its back on the memory of the victims.” Justice Minister Annelies Verlinden said that the permission was granted “under very strict conditions” after “careful evaluation of the case.”

In 2022, a French court sentenced Bakkali to 30 years in prison for helping the attackers by renting houses and armored cars and procuring false identity documents. He was also sentenced to 25 years in prison in Belgium for his role in an attack on a high-speed train headed to Paris, in which two passengers were injured. Belgian authorities extradited him to France to be tried, on the condition that he returned to Belgium to serve his sentence.

Il Fatto Quotidiano: Firenze, 15enne arrestato per arruolamento con finalità di terrorismo internazionale: “Contatti con l’Isis, era pronto a colpire”

Arruolamento con finalità di terrorismo internazionale. Con questa accusa a Firenze è stato indagato e posto sotto custodia cautelare un 15enne tunisino che al momento si trova nell’istituto minorile del capoluogo toscano. La misura è stata disposta dal gip Giuditta Merli anche perché il giovane è recidivo: già nell’ottobre 2025 era stato destinatario di una misura di collocamento in comunità per lo stesso reato. Il 23 marzo era stato poi ammesso dal gup al regime di messa alla prova con la conseguente revoca della misura, ma già dal giorno dopo ha ripreso con un nuovo telefono a interagire con account online vicini all’estremismo islamista radicale.
I profili visionati dalla Digos fiorentina sono affiliati a Daesh, l’acronimo arabo per indicare lo Stato Islamico (Isis). La polizia sostiene che “il ragazzo si è dichiarato pronto a agire, ricevendo istruzioni dall’interlocutore sul luogo per compiere l’azione e mostrandosi interessato alla ricerca di armi”.
Il minorenne è arrivato in Italia tre anni fa. Sul suo cellulare, sequestrato in una perquisizione, sono state trovate immagini riferibili a volti di terroristi islamici noti. Le operazioni che hanno portato all’arresto sono state condotte dalla Digos fiorentina in cooperazione con Aise e Aisi, con un’azione congiunta di intelligence al C.A.S.A. (Comitato di Analisi Strategica Antiterrorismo), dopo una segnalazione della Direzione Centrale della Polizia di Prevenzione.
La gip ritiene che “il minore sia un soggetto pericoloso capace di commettere atti gravi, non avendo mutato le proprie pericolose convinzioni ideologiche, proseguendo anzi l’opera di proselitismo anche durante il regime di messa alla prova, con la conseguenza che, se non opportunamente “contenuto”, possa concretamente compiere azioni di grave violenza in danno della collettività“.

Recruitment with the aim of international terrorism. With this accusation, a 15-year-old Tunisian was investigated and placed under house arrest in Florence, currently held in the juvenile institution of the Tuscan capital. The measure was ordered by Judge Giuditta Merli, also because the young man is a repeat offender: in October 2025, he had already been subject to a residential placement order for the same crime. On March 23rd, he was admitted to the “witness protection” program by the juvenile judge, resulting in the revocation of the measure, but the very next day he resumed interacting with online accounts close to radical Islamic extremism with a new phone.

Profiles viewed by the Florentine Digos (General Directorate for Internal Security) are affiliated with Daesh, the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State (ISIS). The police claim that “the boy declared himself ready to act, receiving instructions from the contact person on the location to carry out the action and showing an interest in searching for weapons.”

The minor arrived in Italy three years ago. Images found on his confiscated cell phone, discovered during a search, were attributed to faces of known Islamist terrorists. The operations leading to the arrest were carried out by the Florentine Digos in cooperation with Aise and Aisi, with a joint intelligence operation at the C.A.S.A. (Committee for Strategic Antiterrorism Analysis), following a report from the Central Directorate for Police Prevention.

The judge believes that “the minor is a dangerous subject capable of committing serious acts, having not changed his dangerous ideological beliefs, but rather continuing the proselytizing work even during the “witness protection” program, with the consequence that, if not appropriately “contained,” he could concretely carry out actions of serious violence against the community.”

A Look Back at The Kindred #4 (1994)

Welcome back, superhero fans, 1990s arts and culture enthusiasts, Image Comics and comic book collectors! Today we go back to the mid-1990s to examine one of the many tales of the WildStorm universe through The Kindred mini-series.

After reading the first three issues of this WildStorm mini-series, Grifter and Backlash were well defined as two former teammates of Team 7 who are at great odds with each other. Adding more emphasis to the Team 7 legacy and the dirty history of International Operations (IO) was IO officer John Lynch (who became a captive in this mini-series) and the revealed leader of the Kindred. The stage is set for the conclusion of this mini-series.

With those details laid down, here is a look back at The Kindred #4, published by Image Comics in 1994 with a story written by Jim Lee, Brandon Choi, Sean Ruffner and the illustrator himself, Brett Booth.

Early story

The story begins some time after the leader of the Kindred revealed himself to Lynch, Grifter, Backlash and Alicia Turner. It has been former IO operative and Team 7 member Roberto Diaz all along and he blamed Backlash for leaving him for dead more than twenty years prior during a desperate situation in South America.

On the orders of Diaz, a few of the beastly Kindred servants carried the severely damaged body of Backlash to a waterfall and threw him down. Elsewhere, Grifter is naked and contained in a water container with oxygen and a communication device attached to him. Roberto Diaz watches and communicates with him. Diaz tells Grifter that the his old identity is no more and the only thing he requires from him are gen samples which are crucial to better understand the genesis drug.

Diaz reveals to him that duplicating the genesis drug is crucial for the Kindred to create more life and be able to overwhelm the world and force it to recognize the might of the Kindred society. Grifter tries to reason with his former teammate by telling him that the genesis serum is something that is not meant to be tampered as it will lead to destruction…

Quality

This early, I can say that Jim Lee, Brandon Choi, Sean Ruffner and Brett Booth gave their best effort to make this final chapter very intriguing, dramatic and explosive to read at the same time. Along the way, they expanded the lore of the original WildStorm universe while building up anticipation for the Team 7 original mini-series (released in the 4th quarter of 1994).

The writing got even stronger in this final issue in terms of storytelling and character development. Roberto Diaz is not a one-dimensional super villain. In fact, he strongly believes that he was betrayed not only by Team 7 and IO, but by humanity in general. As such, he found purpose with the Kindred during his survival days and injected himself with the genesis drug which enhanced him but also turned him into an addict (this alone added drug addiction as a key theme). As far as Roberto Diaz is concerned, he is on a path of no return and his obsession with vengeance against humanity justifies his leadership of the Kindred and the master plan to overwhelm humanity someday. In terms of geopolitics, this reminds me a lot about Islamic terrorists going up against Western civilization using violence while having their fellow Islamists migrate into different nations worldwide to overwhelm those societies from within. Of course, the concept of Diaz and the Kindred plotting against many billions of humans here is high fantasy mixed with unethical science, terrorism, infiltration and terrorism.

The creators managed to develop Grifter, Backlash and John Lynch even more. Lynch here is portrayed as very stressed and struggling with being responsible over the deaths of many men IO sent to rescue him. He even believed for a while that Backlash is dead and he knows fully well that the Kindred are not crazy but rather intelligent and are obsessed with seeking justice. In some ways, Lynch is also responsible for the Kindred and he reflects on what he did for decades for IO while serving as a Team 7 member with a leadership role.

Grifter and Backlash, who are often visually featured in the promos of this mini-series, also have their fair share of the spotlight. Both heroes are severely beaten and not even their special talents or powers were enough to overcome the violent opposition of the Kindred. I like the way the creators emphasized Grifter’s (civilian identity: Cole Cash) personality as he got into the same prison cell with Alicia Turner who turned out to be involved with him several years prior. Grifter here is uneasy about the past not only as member of Team 7 but also as a person. As for Backlash, I’ll say that he has the classic heroic comeback in this issue and things got really tense between him and Roberto Diaz.

When it comes to superhero spectacle, this one is really packed with action and Brett Booth delivered some dynamic artworks to make the story look entertaining. When he draws the Kindred – those animalistic loyalists of Roberto Diaz – he makes them look horrific and intimidating from time to time. When it comes to drawing Backlash and Grifter, Booth’s take has some rough edges as this mini-series was produced before the start of the Backlash series.

Conclusion

I can say that The Kindred #4 (1994) is a worthy end to the mini-series. By the time the plot concluded, the lore and the paramilitary concepts of the original WildStorm universe got expanded a lot with emphasis on the legacy left behind by Team 7 and IO. Grifter, Backlash and John Lynch – all former teammates of Team 7 – got nicely developed here and their significance within the WildStorm universe got stronger. This comic book delivered intrigue, surprises and a good amount of spectacle from start to finish. It also succeeded in setting the stage for the late-1994 launch of Team 7.

Overall, The Kindred #4 (1994) is recommended.

Making America Safe Again

Crime is absolutely a disease. When the wrong people are in power, crime can not only cause harm on the citizens and bring down property values, but also cause economic depression, social deterioration and spread immorality. Even worse, there were foreign terrorists and illegal immigrants who escalated crime in many parts of America during the years of the failed US President Joe Biden.

Fortunately, Donald Trump returned as US President and his unwavering support for law enforcement continues to create results with making America safe again.  

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the official announcement by the White House. Some parts in boldface…

#2 Minty Comedic Arts’ Invasion U.S.A. Video – Still focused on the late Chuck Norris, his 1985 action movie Invasion U.S.A. was not merely made to entertain moviegoers with lots of explosions, dangerous stunts and hard action. Norris read an article in Reader’s Digest about the presence of hundreds of terrorists running loose in the United States which impacted him as he care about his country and his fellow Americans. This eventually led to the making of Invasion U.S.A. which succeeded commercially as it spread awareness to the American people as to how they can defend themselves in the event foreign terrorists invade their country. Today, Islamic terrorism as well as the entrance of Islamo-Leftist foreigners into America made this 1985 more socially relevant. It was during the 1980s when I saw anime productions from the 1970s and the newest ones of the decade. To name some, I saw the 1980s Astro Boy series, Galaxy Express 999, Captain Future, Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Voltes V, Daimos, Mazinger Z and others. While such old anime productions proved to be entertaining, there are still some people out there who bashed them because those productions (and their stories) did not align with their modern day woke agenda. The popular geek entertainment portal CBR published lots of articles saying that the old anime productions did not age well and a lot of readers and netizens followed suit. #7 Ashleigh Burton’s Reaction To Witness – The 1980s will always be a memorable decade of Harrison Ford’s cinematic performances. During that decade, he appeared in two Star Wars movies and he was the center of attraction in the original Indiana Jones trilogy. Along the way, he appeared in the 1985 crime thriller film Witness in which he played a police detective protecting an Amish woman and her son. The movie earned several Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and even Best Actor for Harrison Ford. È morto il figlio del leader dell'ufficio politico di Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya, che era rimasto gravemente ferito in un attacco aereo israeliano sulla Striscia di Gaza. Previously, al-Hayya had told Al Jazeera that his son was in critical condition after being seriously wounded in an Israeli attack.

“The message from Israel is that no one is above attacks and that the entire population is a target,” he told the Qatari broadcaster, accusing Israel of “defying” diplomatic agreements. Al-Hayya added that negotiations on the second phase of the Gaza cease-fire – which should include the disarmament of Hamas, the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and reconstruction – are stalled due to Israel’s “obstinacy.” “Is it possible to move to the second phase when the technical committee is not allowed to enter?” al-Hayya asked, referring to the Palestine National Council for the Administration of Gaza, which would govern the enclave according to the cease-fire. Palestinian officials had previously accused Israel of obstructing the committee’s entry. Al-Hayya also accused Israel of not implementing the first phase of the cease-fire, telling Al-Jazeera that US President Donald Trump and the mediators must force Israel to comply with the agreements before moving to subsequent phases.

Meanwhile, according to figures released by civil defense and hospitals in the Palestinian territory, six people were killed in various Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, resulting in at least fifteen injuries. Five people died in Gaza City, according to two hospitals, and another person was killed and fifteen others injured in the southern Gaza Strip, west of Khan Yunis, according to the Nasser Hospital. According to a Gaza security source, the man killed near Khan Yunis was a police officer for the Islamist Palestinian movement that governs Gaza. Since the implementation of the cease-fire last October, at least 837 Palestinians have been killed according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. On the Israeli side, the military reported the death of five soldiers in Gaza during the same period.

Japan’s Prime Minister Reaffirms Intention To Revise Constitution

Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae made it clear that she intends to revise the Constitution of her nation in accordance with the demands of the modern age, according to a news report by Kyodo News. When it comes to national security in the modern age, Japan is constantly defending itself from the aggressive moves of Communist China and North Korea. The nation also has its own internal challenges such as foreigners committing crime, grouping together to cause public nuisance and negatively affecting the Japanese.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Sunday once again signaled her intention to pursue a revision of the Constitution, as she stressed that the postwar supreme law, which serves as the foundation of the country, “should be periodically updated in accordance with the demands of the times.”

Speaking in a video message to a gathering of revision proponents on Constitution Memorial Day, Takaichi vowed to explain potential amendments carefully to the public, adding that her ruling Liberal Democratic Party would “advance discussions in the Diet aimed at reaching decisions while securing the cooperation of other parties.”

A recent Kyodo News poll showed that 73 percent of the Japanese public called for prioritizing a broad consensus across political parties when moving toward an amendment of the Constitution.

“Discussion must not be for the sake of discussion alone. What politicians must engage in, in order to fulfill the trust placed in them by the people, is discussion aimed at making decisions,” Takaichi said.

Takaichi, known as a conservative hawk, is pushing to bring about a change to the Constitution for the first time since it came into effect following World War II. Among possible areas of amendment is the war-renouncing Article 9, which is seen as the cornerstone of Japan’s postwar pacifist stance.

An amendment would require approval by a two-thirds majority in both chambers of the Diet, followed by majority support in a national referendum. The LDP won two-thirds of the seats in the House of Representatives election in February, while it and other pro-reform forces are within reach of the same threshold in the House of Councillors.

Amid a deteriorating security environment, Takaichi said at the LDP’s annual convention in April that she aims to initiate a proposal for a constitutional amendment by the time the party holds its convention next year.

At Sunday’s gathering, Tomohiko Taniguchi, a former special adviser to the Cabinet, cautioned against getting distracted by discussion of other provisions, saying, “Article 9 stands squarely at the center. I hope we avoid taking easy detours.”
