Space: The Final Frontier
Burgeoning Market
King Orange Enterprises was the first to ask a question. “West New Bank. Do these settlers have Galactic titles to this land? It’s perfect for a resort.”
“I’ll check,” the representative of StarTek said. [Note 1]
“Never mind, we’ll just say they don’t and call anyone who argues a ‘localist.’”
Dyflu’s (Do You Feel Lucky) agent spoke next. “I see Spires lacks a central government, and these volcanic spires would be wonderful backdrops to our games. Why are development costs so low?”
“You’ll note that the life expectancy of the populace is 36 years. The volcanic ash is highly carcinogenic, and no way has been found to filter it out,” Star replied.
“Thirty-six years, deniable; besides, only lucky people play our games.” Dyflu had made their decision.
“And you, Nestlay,” Star asked. “I see you eyeing the brochure on Tahitatony.”
Orange King snickered, looking at the woman on the front of the brochure. Brilliant white teeth and naked breasts were what he noticed.
Nestlay ignored the bore and asked, “Page seven of the brief says lefties are twice as common as normal among the populace.”
“That is correct,” Holy replied. “But the locals don’t see it as a problem.”
Nestlay touched his CommPlant® and spoke, “Start a media blitz on Tahitatony. Subject: the dangers of lefties; the usual will do: pedo, violence, moral depravity, whatever. And commission a study saying that breastfeeding is linked to lefties. Take bids… Cancel that. Use Dr. Wiseman. He always comes through.”
