@thatsten Does your kid know how to code ? Before delving into topics like these it is important to grasp the fundamentals. If not then your kid could start with #pico8 or #python. Otherwise, I've some recommendations ->

Almost one week in, and I am still reviewing some games for the first #BrackeysGameJam of 2025. Will I reach at least 100s?
I am preparing a list of _hidden jam gems_ (😜) here: https://itch.io/c/5434680/brackeys-20251-hidden-jam-gems
I'll write a blog post about it after the Jam is over: these games were very useful for me to learn something, or they had some interesting aspect that I wanted to remember and praise! :)
Happy Tuesday! We're gonna play some Brackeys game jam submissions on stream and then get back to development on our game game, live at https://www.twitch.tv/drusepth
See you there!
🎉 I have finally submitted my short game to #Brackeys Game Jam! 🎉
https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/rate/3330578
This is the first time doing a jam... I have learned a lot, and ofc, did a lot of side-quests and yak shaving. I have found already a few bugs to fix in the game, but I will do them later... for now I want to relax! 😄
Try it out, let me know what you think 😉 How long will it take for you to deliver 10 yaks?
Who said I did not have to spend 3 hours switching from #Dialogic to #Dialogue for #Godot?
My game started crashing due to a memory leak (will post about it later) caused by Dialogic. 🤦♂️
In any case, I made some progress, and I have implemented 99% of the basic things I wanted to implement.
Tomorrow I will focus on effects, more sounds and shaders to make things spark more 😜
Time to rest!
Halfway into the #GameJam week, my game is still about #YakShaving. 👾
I spent too much time on other tasks. 🙃 Giving a personality to the spaceship... I was Yak Shaving! The animations and models? Also yak shaving! I will change them later, probably.
I have set up some basic mechanics to use in the various "side quests". Gravity, drag-and-drop, and some physics 😃 It was fun!
Next, I will glue all things together. Here is a video of what I got so far!
Today is almost done: I am planning to publish something to get some feedback to the mechanics tomorrow evening! 🤞I might have spent way too much on building assets... I heard to not do that, but I want to test them with the game mechanics! 😅
I know that I will work on Yak Shaving, as myself get lost in that kind of tasks constantly 🙂 Nothing can go wrong when yak shaving, right?
Participating in the #brackeys-13 game jam, always fun!
