Tsundoku "is the Japanese word for the stack(s) of books you’ve purchased but haven’t read."

#TLDR - surrounding yourself with #books is good.

#Sermon - The #unread books in one's personal #library serve as a valuable reminder of how much we #DontKnow

That #wisdom is as important as the #knowledge gained from the books you've already read

What our shelves of unread books teach us about ourselves

Many readers buy books with every intention of reading them, only to let them linger on the shelf. The Japanese call this practice tsudoku.

We only had 20 minutes at #UncleHugos yesterday, so it was a tiny haul

1/2 I've always been an easy sell when it comes to books, and this just-finished semester has been particularly hard on the wallet (see: 90% of that third shelf from the top; the University of the Philippines Press made SO MUCH BANK from me this year)

But my book-buying habits went into overdrive when I discovered online bookshops on Facebook. Less than two months in and I've already run out of shelf space. Again.

Went to CAMHS with the eldest. It's the part of their #DBT course that parents have to attend as well. Went to the shops when we were on our way back, so I've bought six new (to me. They all came from charity shops for a pound at most) books. Eight, if you count the ones I bought for the child.

But I did it in a very mindful way.
