Boletes mushrooms do not have gills beneath the cap, but pores, thin tubular structures all stuck together and bunched vertically like very narrow straws. These pores hold the spores.

#BuchwaldoboletusXylophilus is a species of #bolete fungus in the family #Boletaceae native to Asia, found on wood. It has a convex brown #cap, and a red-brown stipe. Its edibility is unknown.

Bay bolete (Imleria badia) or kastanjeboleet in Dutch. Found this beauty during a mushroom masterclass foraging walk. It's ectomycorrhizal: the underground mycelium are connected to the roots of nearby trees. We made a nice sauce and a soup out of what we found. It tasted magnificent.

The only king I want in is a king #bolete- in my tummy. This was close... Boletus fibrillosus, or the Fib King. Cooks up incredibly well, all the same. The house smells wonderful... 🍂 🍄‍🟫
