A friend from the #BBS - an old hacker who collected old toys - left me his #Altair when he joined the Navy. That thing I did use quite a bit - but it was still a toy next to the PC as much fun as watching the #blinkenlights was.

I think there's something odd about inherited 8-bit nostalgia - it's like the confluence of the "earlier simpler time" bias combined with this moment where you could build up from basic principles to today so it feels especially much a moment sadly missed.

So, since @dec_hl nerdsniped me into checking out @marove's Blinkyparts webshop for Solder Things, I had to order a few sweet kits. I just completed this one in a bit over an hour. It's not the most spectacular of the boards, but definitely the most complicated! I'm a tiny bit proud that it works straight away :D

This intriguing trio of Ladik modules arrived from a seller from Italy today.

Yeah, they get a lot of #blinkenlights points, but that quantiser also shows a lot of potential. At the moment it's making a 2600 square wave sound like a tribe who got lost in a telephone exchange and are using their noseflutes to summon the ancestral spirits.

6hp to go and this rack will be full.
