French accent when speaking German.

So today, writing personal messages in French and connecting to the French-speaking world on a personal basis (outside my French family) is an act of self-emancipation; it's overcoming this bad father, and it's embracing my bicultural identity.

My most important goal as a father is not to repeat this shit.

Question for my #bicultural friends (and especially the #anglophone ones living in DACH): do you sometimes feel you don’t really belong in either of your cultural “hemispheres”? I’ve had that feeling a lot recently. (Exacerbated, maybe, by being in a monocultural German cocoon the last few weeks.)

I’m still kinda sad that I can’t seem to break past the language barrier in my efforts to find any information about my paternal family line. I want to learn more about pre-1947 life in China for my ancestors. I also want to know if any of my fam survived the war & Cultural Revolution so I can see them when I do my trip home. Living with an Iranian father comes with a lot of downsides. He never cared how I was doing during my studies, he never cared what kind of job I could get, but if his holy nephew has issues, everything and everybody has to focus on him getting a new position. Then, suddenly every personal contract is considered a potential helper to find a new job for the job poor boy.
I guess I’m just a daughter and a disappointment for him, so he doesn’t have to care.
