In search of an #OperatingSystem and #WindowManager or #DesktopEnvironment that uses less #hardware resources than #AlpineLinux and #LXQt. There's only one option I'm aware of that's not #performance #benchmarked on https://EveryByteCounts.org. Curious if anyone might be aware of any options.

A new #cat #video on #PureOS 10.3 with the #GnomeDesktopEnvironment https://youtu.be/AUv2gRbixUo developed by Purism has been #performance #benchmarked on https://everybytecounts.org. While it performs better than #Zorin with #Gnome, it does not perform as well as #AlpineLinux with #GnomeDesktop. PureOS 10.3 was released in June #2023 and bundled with Gnome Desktop Environment from #2021, #Mutter from 2021, and #GDM from #2020, which is not recommended.

A new #Video https://youtu.be/f57rGhBm3Vk for your #cats on #Debian 12.6 #Server and with #GnomeDesktop 43.9 has been #performance #benchmarked and is ranked 23rd in the #DesktopEnvironment #OperatingSystem #TierList. The bundled #GnomeDesktopEnvironment, #Mutter #WindowManager, and #GDM #DisplayManager all appear to be 1-2 year old versions of the #software. The server performance with 280M Memory Usage, 0 CPU Load, and 1.8G Disk Usage, and 11 second reboot time are not the best.

Phosh 39 on PostMarketOS 24.06 appears to be the #new best performing #Gnome forked #Wayland based #OpenSource #mobile #DesktopEnvironment. Phosh 39 performs better than #GnomeMobile 45.rc and Worse than #Mate 1.28 on #NixOS 24.05. The software seems to be reasonably up to date with this option and uses the #tinydm login manager. A reasonable option for #LinuxOnMobile

A video on #AlmaLinux 9.4 with #Gnome 40.10 #performance has been #benchmarked and #ranked in the #tierlist #comparison https://youtu.be/pQKnuexImmw. Unfortunately the AlmaLinux #Linux distrubtion appears to be using very old #software versions of Gnome that are more than 2 years old. The performance also seems to be pretty horrible using twice the memory and disk usage than Alpine Linux with Gnome 46. There was more invested in this video than usual. So curious if anyone might notice the difference.
