@rods Microsoft never had and never will have ‘Super Cow’ powers. 🐄 #CowSay / #CowThink / #aptitude

@ferret If you have `aptitude` installed, you can search on the command line with

aptitude search "?installed ?depends(chromium|firefox|www-browser)"
aptitude search "?installed ?recommends(chromium|firefox|www-browser)"

(It can be done in one command, but the combination of "and"s and "or"s makes it awkward)

Or you can use the #aptitude TUI (run `aptitude` without options) to browse the dependency trees. `?` for help, `q` to quit.

I was tired of not being able to install with apt the apps I would build, so I created a #rustlang app that makes a virtual apt repository over #github releases.
It's not fresh yet, but it works. I can update the app itself, using apt. It works also for #opentelemetrycollector.
Next step, handling signatures and improving configuration and performance.

Dear https://zoom.us, I appreciate you having a #Zoom client package that works on #Linux, that's mighty nice of you as I need that software to run for me and I appreciate it being native in my chosen OS. However, if you're gonna update the software really, really, really often (like you're doing these days) could you just take that one extra step and stop making me manually download and install a .deb file for every update? You can choose from multiple other options, like a #Flatpack, or an #Aptitude compatible solution.

Not to be ungrateful, but, well, seriously...

From @AssociatedPress: "Trump said Wednesday that he will impose a 100% #tariff on #ComputerChips, likely raising the #cost of electronics, autos, household appliances and other goods deemed essential for the digital age. https://tinyurl.com/2h7e7y77

Trump plans 100% tariff on computer chips, unless companies build in US

President Donald Trump says he's imposing a 100% tariff on computer chips— a move that raises the specter of higher prices for electronics, autos, household appliances and other essential goods that depend on the processors. Companies making computer chips in the U.S. or planning to do so will be spared the import taxes. During the pandemic, a shortage of computer chips increased the price of autos and contributed to higher inflation. Investors continued to bet that Big Tech companies such as Apple that have made huge financial commitments in the U.S. will be exempt from the chip tariffs.

@ReadingFaithfully_org Curious about two things, if you happen to know:

1. Whether there's a similar or contrasting #simile based on #aptitude, #skill, or #talent rather than #position, #commitment, or #faith.
2. Whether there's a similar or contrasting #simile dealing with which qualities to cultivate within oneself. Maybe something to the effect of "When X is already well-developed, cultivate X still further; when Y is (already) well-developed, cultivate X first or together with Y, &c."?
