The @EUCouncil version of “Daphne’s Law” #AntiSlapps would not have protected Daphne herself from the SLAPPs she was facing. In its usual reflex, the Council protects those in power, not the citizens. The law must be fixed, so as to have real impact.

Re For me personally, it is important to protect our European values such as freedom of expression and information. Free and critical reporting is part of every democracy and therefore also part of the #EU. These key elements of the rule of law must be protected. #AntiSLAPPs

Very good exchange with Vice President @VeraJourova on the #AntiSlapps Directive. For us it is clear that we need meaningful legislation that helps #SLAPPs targets. We will use this momentum to make a change for better protection against these vexatious lawsuits. 💪
