This angle shades moth looks like it has been in a fight, or else been shot down in flames during a dogfight, with its slightly serrated rear wing edges. It was surprisingly (to me at least) immobile, which didn't seem to be the best strategy to hide itself from being eaten, nor was its choice of hiding place against a teak stained outside table.

Mostly it’s butterflies that attract my attention. But this ‘Angle Shades’ moth found its way into our kitchen & stayed motionless on the edge of the worktop

Today's moth is an Angle Shades, Phlogophora meticulosa. The wings fold along the body, and the markings resemble a withered brown leaf, for protection from predators.

All moths are humanely trapped, photographed, recorded on the Sussex & UK databases, & safely released.

I usually follow back, & really appreciate boosts. 🙂

I was told this was #AngleShades #Moth #Caterpillar Mid March 2022

Caterpillar ID is not my strong point.
I'm not keen on disturbing them either for a better look.

Hanging out on #Knapweed leaf with #OxeyeDaisy nearby in my urban garden #Wildflowers border.

Looking plump. Moth is a big sized fella. Would be a nice catch for any urban #bats.

Native #Wildflowers are important as are untidy overwintering areas in urban settings for increasing #wildlife.
