The variety of apps for Mastodon is as amazing as it is overwhelming. The bare-bones ‚original’ #Mastodon for iOS, the neglected #MetatextApp, #Amaroq, my current favourite #IceCubesApp … and I haven‘t even tried #Ivory, #Mammoth, and #Mastoot yet. 😅 Which client do you use?

The basic UI when first using Mastodon can be off-putting. But there are options!

1) "Advanced Web UI" in your settings

2) Mobile apps. The official app was rushed to meet demand after migration. Try #FediLab or #Tusky on Android. #Toot! or #Amaroq on iOS

3) Desktop. Try #Sengi or #Whalebird

4) Web. There are even alternate Web UI. Check out #Pinafore

Also, I am sad to see #amaroq didn’t survive the last mass exodus. It was a great app, and I miss it. Bc I have the attention span of a gnat, I’m now trying out #toot, which seems pretty good so far.

@SebinNyshkim @GrayWuff Ahhh, yes! This is a good distinction I failed to make. I was speaking of the "Official" #Mastodon mobile apps for iOS and Android. They are, yes, somewhat limited. Third party apps typically have more robust feature sets, however they sometimes disappear without a trace… Like the #Amaroq app for iOS. 😭

Calling #iOS users… what’s the best free app to use for Mastodon? I tried to find #Amaroq but it’s not available from Apple. I’m viewing in my browser at present.

What’s up with the #Amaroq iOS app? Is it toast?

It worked fine last week, I think, but now it just crashes consistently three seconds after opening it. Oh, and it’s been last updated 800+ days ago…not instilling confidence exactly.
