I’m having a lot of trouble posting pictures on Mastodon. I’m using the Metatext app, 1.7.1 (2).
It allows me to find pictures both in my pictures folder and files folder on my iPhone 11, but when I select then try to upload, I get:
“The operation couldn’t be completed. (ServiceLayer.- MediaProcessingError error 0.)
OK”
Once in a while it works, but usually it fails and I can’t fathom a reason for why it’s failing.
@Dylan Okay, I’ve done my analysis and here it is:
#1 is definitely #IceCubesApp 🏆 🥇
#MetatextApp doesn’t even make #2, so it’s dead last because it’s so bad. 😑
#MastodonApp decided not to participate, as the image detection function for alt-text generation is not available. So worse than last. 🤦♂️
Is there an iOS Mastodon app that lets me follow hashtags?
Currently trying #MetatextApp but I cannot find the option, and hashtag following is my way to get a pretty feed.
Here’s my #mastodon mobile setup of choice for the moment. Two apps unfortunately.
Daily Driver: #icecubesapp
Covers all capabilities except convenient threading. It’s the most robust iOS app for Mastodon Which I’ve found personally. The Dev’s philosophy is also nicely aligned with the spirit of the #Fediverse as well 👍.

Which #Mastodon app best balances looks, speed, & functionality? My findings so far: Mastadon iOS - Fast, pretty, has edit capability, but strips animation from GIFs. Ice Cubes - Beautiful, customizable, ai shorten text & translation, supports Gifs, fast, great poll options, but no auto threading for longer posts.
