More and more LLMs are coming out of China and they will become more and more used in Europe unless there are safe alternatives. We are repeating the same mistakes we made for cloud computing, and Europe is left behind. While I know Mistral exists, it does not seem to be relevant and able to keep up. Also, #Norway has the great conditions to train our own models (cheap, renewable energy), but is there anyone doing it?

I’m trying to decide how to properly address a #noAI policy on my open source projects. My licence and copyright are already a no-AI policy and I believe that adding md files to your repo to politely tell the AI companies to go fuck themselves only helps legitimise them and weaken #copyright.

I’m not running any team projects so I can say up front that there is a blanket no-AI policy and something will probably be added whenever I next have to touch those repositories (why should it be me doing the work, I should be sending them the bill!)

Fuck AI, but especially fuck AI apologists. Fuck anybody who gives in “because it’s easier”, or “nobody was helping”. Fuck anybody who brushes away the horror behind the curtain because their ego is more important to them.

You use the slop machine and you are no longer a programmer: you are not my kin, you don’t know my hard fought wins. You chose the enemy. Get behind me Satan. I code because of what I learn and inspire in others on the journey. Your journey to the end is littered with crimes against humanity. You are dead to me.
