They just announced yet another "workforce reduction" at the cube farm.

The corpo-speak announcement touts how "AI" and "automation" is allowing this. Here's the reality, all of us who survived the cuts are doing the work of 2, 3 or even 4 people.

And these deluded managers think it's OK because "just ask Copilot to do it". I've tried, believe me. I would gladly use a robot that handles my inbox for me.

But Copilot is, ironically, very poorly integrated with Outlook. It does a worse job at organizing my e-mail than my old-school inbox rules, for a huge cost and environmental impact. The fact that corporations are so willingly chugging this kool-aid is just not something I can understand.

#Pinterest will be the first major casualty of #AISlop. My teenagers used to maintain boards on the platform and both stopped because they told me it was now nothing but fake AI images. They primarily used it as inspiration for art, crafts, decorating, baking, etc. but told me “You can’t replicate something that's fake to begin with."

WTAF DuckDuckGo devs? I was so excited that you added the ability for me to block websites from appearing in my search results. I hoped to use this to block all the slopsites. It was working great until I tried to add another just now and got the message:

Cannot Block Site—You can only block up to 5 sites. To block iere.org, you'll need to unblock another site first.

Why? Why would you have a limit of 5 sites?? That makes this much desired feature basically useless.

A lot of people on this campus, students AND staff, rely on G Docs (despite or given we are an MS Office campus). But as G integrates more #AISlop into Docs, they want their pound.
