I had the idea last week that my OC from 14 years ago, Detective Kate [insert married name here] [she's probably married by now] aka White Stripe, would make a great antagonist for Addie, my Spider-Man analogue. She's a superhero who's part of the police department, and she doesn't like how much power is in the hands of this inexperienced girl (I mean, Addie doesn't like it either tbh). But she doesn't actually get in her way, because just like Addie, Kate is reluctant to take action out of fear that it might lead to things spiraling out of control. The big threat to Addie isn't White Stripe herself, it's that if she gets involved then things could escalate to the feds.
The other thing about White Stripe is that she's scared of transformation (seriously, I already had that as a thing), and she eventually intervenes to try and free Addie's parents from the spider curse - something Addie was considering doing too - but all it does is briefly turn them into horrifying-looking hybrid creatures. The idea is that it's a mirror image of Spider-Man, a story about situations in which not using the power you've been given is the appropriate thing to do.
Addie thinks she's a worse hero than she is, because she knows she could force other people to do the "right thing" with her powers, but she's still a kid and knows she doesn't usually understand what the right thing really is.
