5:45AM: 34F, light snow.
"I can see clearly now the rain has gone..." but no bright, sunshiney day awaits. We have more snow likely today, possibly 3-5 inches.
Also, "Highly variable" snow showers for all week or, I assume now, all of eternity.
But the break in the weather gave us time to get our new fridge up our steep, icy driveway!! After 40 days of no fridge, the gleaming gorgeousness of our new Whirlpool is in the kitchen!

High wind advisory from 1-10PM today.
Winter weather advisory from 1PM today to 7AM tomorrow.
Snow is now in the forecast every day through next Saturday.
I just... can't even ...any more...
6:30AM: 26F, fair.
Another big snow front coming up from the south, but I'm hoping the worst of it stays in the southern panhandle! We are expected to get just a few inches.
I hope that's true because Monday our new fridge will be delivered, and we have a long, slick, driveway.
We have an ice chest on the porch, two mini-fridges and our regular 3 freezers while we waited 40 days for a fridge to be barged.
But that is the reality of living on an island in AK.
6:00AM: 30F, overcast.
The trouble with the innocuous "snow shower" is that once one has come and gone, you might have 1-2" more snow on the ground.
Hence my awakening to the sound of snowplows.
There's probably around 2 fresh inches of snow.
I was too pissed about it to measure.
6:00AM: 27F, overcast.
The big bulletin from yesterday: THERE WAS NO ADDITIONAL SNOW!
There was even sun..
Normally I would poo-poo sunshine, but in this case, with inches of snow already on the ground, I was happy to see the bright assurance of NO MORE!
There is more snow in the forecast this weekend, but for now I will pretend to be blissfully unaware.
5:30AM: 28F, a few clouds.
We are under a winter weather advisory until 4PM. Up to 6" expected.
John is going fishing bright and early. I'll be at work for at least 12 hours straight today. (Lots of opportunity for public testimony on bills.)
Soooo, for once, Mother Nature, take pity on Sitka, eh?
I don't want to have to drive through then shovel 6" of snow tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.

Looks like another inch or so overnight...after another couple of inches yesterday.
Heavy snow showers expected Wed. & Thurs.
Could be another 2-4"....or 6-8".
Step right up gents/gentles and roll those dice!
John is going fishing (finally!) so I will be manning (womanning?) the snow shovel.
I. Am. Tired. Of. This. Ridiculous. Snow. But at least we don't live in Juneau! ha!
