Battle of the open source synths on Linux: #Vitalium, #SurgeXT, #Synthv1, #Dexed, #ZynAddSubFX. There's also #Helm, but it's just a precursor of Vitalium (by the same developer). There are a couple more, but these are the most common or capable ones.

I wish there was some more development of Vitalium. The creator of #Vital dropped the v1 as GPL, and then he closed sourced it. The community didn't really do much with it.

okay, that's that, I guess, I will have to get used to having the velocity control being janky in the piano roll of #ardour

Moreover. How come, that #ZynAddSubFx has such a great repertoire of versatile built-in distortion possibilities, which are unavailable as separate plug-ins? I'd love if I could distort guitar samples using something like that.

I guess I learned a lot today about #FreeSoftware #MusicProduction on #Linux... Now I just wish I also had some musical talent...
