@foone @ann3nova @TechTangents @texec @fuchsiii which reminds me that I'm still looking for a 5,25" 1200kB FDD and a 3,5" 2880kB FDD to shove into my #Z600 which is the newest machine I have that supports #FDD|s with an onboard controller and I'm not in the position to like build a #dISAppointed - Adapter or a #WeeCee like @rasteri did.

I mean, I'd love to see a #PC104 version of the #QuadFlop for like a #archival & #datarecovery machine...

Add an ISA slot to Modern Motherboards!

@barrysampson given the #licensing costs for #ToonBoom, it's good to see their #TechSupport actually invested time and effort.

Most "Professional Software" on #Linux is sometimes really nit easy to procure:

  • #Autodesk literally won't even offer me a #license for #Maya unless I sent them a Serial # of an eligible Workstation (i.e. #HP #Z600 - spec'd to compatibility from the factory) existing & valid #RHEL subscription and would only support that combo with the license...

So it's no wounder those that can't afford it stick to #blender & #Moho like @fuchsiii ...

@mos_8502 consider a #refurbished or #used #hp Z-series workstation...

If power wasn't so expensive I'd still rock my #Z600 with it's dual X5550's and 24GB RAM...

You may find some surplus'd Z860 or Z8 [successor] for not much money if you snipe eNay...

@Natanox Okay, that's a way to do it, cuz I would've foregone retro hardware as much as possible and just picked up some not-too-old Workstations like an #hp #Z600 which has enough PCIe lanes and still supports #Windows XP on it bare-metal...

Tho ideally one would do this entirely with a KVM and only passthough the GPUs to #WindowsXP with only said GPU's PCIe version and lanes as bottleneck...

Consider some cheap adaptor/extenders to force lesser lanes instead of hacky bifurcations?

TBH, I wished I had an Epson SD-800 (which is a 5,25" 720kB + 3,5" 1440kB combo in 1x5,25" half-heigt bay) or even better a 1200kB 5,25" and a 2880kB 3,5" drive, but I only have one computer with a floppy controller.

Cuz that and a #LightScribe DVD Burner would make for a good #BridgeMachine out of a #Z600...
