One of my clients today is a Somalian immigrant, of Muslim faith, who came to Canada (early 90s) after the Somalia Civil War ended & before more wars started up. He expressed many mixed emotions this morning, including feeling grateful that he's departing this Earth soon. He is 82 years old now & has shared a lot of his incredible lived experiences in 6 different countries. He had fled Somalia & was trying to obtain help in multiple nearby countries for several years before getting NGO help to exit & come to Canada. He told me how badly he was treated by Canadians, for being black & having a thick accent. We are going to the local mosque this afternoon 🙏
