> Rekordfund: Astronomen haben mehr als 11.000 zuvor unerkannte Asteroiden im Sonnensystem auf einmal entdeckt – darunter auch 33 erdnahe Asteroiden von bis zu 500 Meter Durchmesser. Aufgespürt wurden diese Neuzugänge in den ersten Daten des neuen Rubin-Observatoriums in Chile. Ebenfalls rekordträchtig ist der Nachweis von gleich 380 transneptunischen Objekten in diesen Daten. Unter diesen sind auch zwei Kleinplaneten mit extrem weit hinausreichenden Umlaufbahnen.
