I'm still gobsmacked about this. All my life thinking the honeybee waggle dance was decoded visually, and no, it's by mechanoreception in pitch dark inside the beehive. Our own biases permeate and show through everything.
@futurebird Bees can read each other by touch: the waggle dance happens in pitch darkness inside the hive, with other bees reading out the dancer's moves with their antennae:

I remember a beer called #WaggleDance I wonder what happened to it? In general, I mean, I know what happened to my specific bottles.

Quite the journey.
