Question for people who experience visual migraines:

Can you see infrared while experiencing the distortion of your vision?

I've only had maybe 4 of these migraines over the past 25 years, so I'm not an expert.
In each case, I've noticed the onset by being unable to focus on the word I'm trying to read, but being able to read the words around it peripherally.

This time the first thing I noticed was a tiny blinking red light right in the top of the bezel of my phone, *then* the spreading vision distortion.

I've never noticed this tiny light before, in the years I've owned this phone, and I can't see it now that the migraine has passed.
I'm only guessing that it was a tiny IR LED, and wish I'd had the presence of mind to try looking at my TV etc. remote controls while having the migraine.

So I'm curious, and rather than waiting 6+ years for my next possible chance to experiment, I'll ask - does anyone else find that ocular migraines gives them a temporary superpower?

This is what it's like to see through my eyes. I've had scintillating scotoma for decades. It's always there. Sometimes it takes over so much of my vision that I'm essentially blind. Usually, it's something I can work around. I rarely have migraine headaches, but when I do, the blind spots are much worse.

I mentioned earlier that I had an attack of #VisualMigraine.
It's a thing that not many people know about - so here's a description of how this type of #migraine affects me (everyone is different).
Its very weird!

Generally it's my left eye, but can run into both.
It's like a black lace curtain descending from the top left of my vision. At worst I lose vision in that eye.

I don't get an associated headache, it's not painful or dangerous *

It tends to last a couple of hours - although like today it can be gone in minutes, the longest was the first time, when it was over 6 hours.

I was diagnosed by a neurologist about 18 years ago. There's no treatment as it doesn't affect /my/ lifestyle at all.

I think it's brought on by any combination of heat / exercise / stress (& possibly dehydration).

*it's never ever happened while I've been driving, it does happen during cycling trips but a rest of around half an hour is usually enough to allow me to feel safe enough to continue.

While I was sitting having a breather during my bike ride I had one of my rare visual migraine things start up in my left eye.
Thankfully it didn't come to anything.
I think these are sometimes related to exertion and overheating.

What a way to start the morning. I've been awake for about half an hour. I thought, upon waking, "wow I slept almost 8 hours!" (That's very unusual for me.)

The #migraine aura started a few minutes ago. I can't win for losing, it seems.
