Best-Practice Skills for Sustainable Development in the SIDS
With funding provided by Our Shared Ocean, an initiative from the Government of Ireland to build research partnerships with SIDS, Island Innovation has designed a comprehensive 6-week online course in Sustainable Development, running through April and May. The course material, delivered by relevant international practitioners, offers a structured and immersive learning experience that will educate and engage students from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and provides key practical skills and the principles of sustainable development.
“Best-Practice Skills for Sustainable Development in the SIDS” will provide participants with an understanding of the interplay between social, economic, and environmental factors crucial for fostering sustainable practices. This course is tailored to equip students with a comprehensive understanding and practical skills essential for driving positive change within their communities and beyond, covering a diverse range of topics including sustainable business strategies, cross-sectoral collaboration, and global sustainability initiatives.
One of the highlights of this program is its culmination at the prestigious Global Sustainable Islands Summit (GSIS) to be held on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Course Participants will be eligible to apply for Our Shared Ocean Mobility & Travel Grants (up to €2000) to facilitate their attendance at the GSIS. The 10 highest scoring applications will have registration included and a facilitated meeting with the Our Shared Ocean and PEI University Teams.
