Da tippst du ein "creepy" Spiel ein, startest es, und dann ist es ein Spellchecker.
Die "Geister" werden sauer, wenn du dich vertippst. Hahaha.

Speaking of my previous toot [1] about old Usborne books [2], I have just learned from the book How to Make Computer-Controlled Robots [3] that you could easily simulate
ON value GOSUB line1, line2, [line3…]
with
GOSUB line1*(value=1)+ line2*(value=2)[+ line3*(value=1)…]
(See logical page 37 — printed as 35 — on [3])
I guess the same works for ON GOTO…

I had posted this on at least two previous accounts, but not here: the Usborne Computing Books of the 80’s are available (still, fingers crossed 🤞🏼) as free downloads. They can be useful to think of things that kids could be doing today… and they’re also gorgeous and nostalgic at the same time: https://usborne.com/gb/books/computer-and-coding-books ps. If you access outside the UK, the link above will not appear to work. In that case, please 1) go to Start page (last link in the error page; might be in a different language for you); 2) set your language and region to English/United Kingdom, respectively; and 3) then click that link again. #retrocomputing #usborne #kids

@vk2gpu #Usborne has graciously provided many of their classic 1980s computer #books as freely downloadable PDFs, including the “Introduction to Computer #Programming: #BASIC for Beginners” in @GrantMeStrength’s photo: https://usborne.com/books/computer-and-coding-books
20 books that have had an impact on who you are. One book a day for 20 days. No explanations, no reviews, just book covers (don't forget the alt text).

@nixCraft I distinctly remember tweaking the type-in #BASIC games from early #1980s #Usborne books so that I would always win: https://usborne.com/us/books/computer-and-coding-books
Today that would be #RetroComputing.
Memories of childhood!

I saw somebody lamenting that Usborne doesn't any more have PDFs of their old computer books for children on the internet.
But they do! I found these recently: https://usborne.com/row/books/computer-and-coding-books
I had a Finnish translation of a compilation of some of these, found it at my parents and figured I could try to find the original PDFs, too. The book had the space games, and I typed in many of them. I especially liked the star base one.
