Did you know that the first Dinamic game ever was coded on a 1K #zx81? It was GT Cars.

I don't know why I felt it was important for me to implement RLE graphics decoding in BASIC on a ZX81 today, but here it is:

ZX Retro Gaming including 8 and 16 bit

Retro gaming focussed around 8 and 16 bit computers. Especially interested in Sinclair then the battle between the Atari ST and Amiga. The ZX81 my first electronic love. Support the channel : Buy me a coffee : https://buymeacoffee.com/northernstuff Channel topics include: - Tinkering with Sinclair ZX81 games, running them on other platforms. - Now the Spectrum Next Issue 2 has arrived will be messing with that, its announcement largely inspiring the channel. - I played some 16 bit games on the A500 Mini while waiting for the Next. - Winter forays into Z80 code when the weather is grotty. - Rewriting the unreleased ZX81 game Caverns for the Next as a long term project with a view to porting it back to the ZX81 at some point. - The odd gameplay video, though I’m a pretty average gamer - shoutouts to games that catch my eye. - Occasionally looking at some more modern games too. With many of the videos I am sharing my learning experiments with retro. Hope you enjoy.

Given the ZX81 anniversary, I'll re-up my least popular blog post from last year, Sinclair 4K BASIC for the ZX80: https://troypress.com/sinclair-4k-basic-for-the-zx80/ #ZX81 #ZX80 #retrocomputing #BASIC
Sinclair 4K BASIC for the ZX80

In my study of Tiny BASICs, one I overlooked reviewing was Sinclair 4K BASIC, which stands out for its unique keyboard, its approach to graphics, and its memory usage.

Mijn eerste. En niet lang daarna werd ik op de HCC usergroup bijna gecancelled omdat ik van 1K naar 16K had ge-upgrade. Een doorn in het oog van de puristen...

Zo'n leuke homecomputer, veel plezier mee gehad. Uiteindelijk aan een neefje gegeven omdat ik een Sharp MZ700 ging kopen.

45 yo ! #ZX81
Congrats to the #ZX81 on its 45th birthday! My coding life started on that little machine at a friend's house. We watched WarGames and made a password screen. It was magic. 😍
Never used it again after that, as the Spectrum came into my life. Still have fond memories of that day.

Happy 45th Birthday to the ZX81! The system I went through its library just a few systems ago (before Epoch Cassette Vision and TI-99/4A, along with DOS games, Windows 3.1 games, Macintosh games, and arcade games in-between).

Another late #Hackster round-up today, and I'm still waiting for two pieces to go live - but let's see what's already up for now.

First, it's a very special day today: the Sinclair #ZX81's 45th birthday. I've written a little potted history here, digging into the reference books in the office library - and decorated with pics of my very own ZX81, which I hand-soldered from the cheapskate kit edition.

Microcomputing on the Cheap: The Sinclair ZX81/Timex Sinclair 1000 Turns 45 Today

Launched as a more capable successor to the Sinclair ZX80 yet at a reduced cost, Sinclair's ZX81 made waves β€” and still attracts developers.
