So - question to all my #techie friends: do you have an #UPS, and if so, which one (or ones if multiple)? With installing my new system and a DAS with 43T+ of spinning rust drives, I think it's important that I have an UPS again. (I have an APC, but it hasn't been functional for a long time -- the battery died, and I've never been able to replace the battery).

I'm really interested in which one(s) you'd recommend from a Linux standpoint. I want to make certain I get one that can cleanly shutdown my system if needed.

Do you #homelab people use an #UninterruptiblePowerSupply (UPS)?

I was very happy with the supercap-based #Juice4Halt  #RaspberryPi hat, but my new home server will be a much more powerful beast (GMKtec K8 plus) and would rather require 19V ~50W or so from a UPS. Seems there aren't any supercap-based UPSs on the market!? 🤔

I just need like a minute or so for safe shutdown and have basically no space for a UPS.

One of my UPS batteries held on for over ten years.

What would be the brand of #UPS that pays the most attention to safety & preventing thermal/electrical problems for consumer stuff? Any models in particular?

I want neither fires, explosions nor sulfuric acid boiling off & venting into my room, for fairly obvious reasons.

Power quality & reliability seems to be steadily getting worse here, so I might find myself forced to handle it somehow.
