I was a chaperone on my daughter’s Washington DC trip while she was in eighth grade, right before starting high school.

The trip had a stop in NYC and I bought this Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date (aka The Interstellar Watch) from the Bucherer 1888 in Midtown. This watch reminds me of the awesome experience of that whole trip.

My daughter graduates today from high school. I’m so proud of her! I’m going to be wearing this watch to her graduation.

James Gunn explica el salto temporal de la cinta aunque no agradó a los fans

El Universo DC de James Gunn y Peter Safran se prepara para las nuevas entregas de la conocida como Saga Superman. En tan solo unas semanas se estrenará Supergirl, la primera película con la prima de Kal-El como protagonista. Y el año que viene será el turno de Man of Tomorrow, la secuela de Superman. Con el rodaje totalmente en marcha, acaban de salir importantes detalles a la luz.

Tal y como ha confirmado el propio James Gunn en Threads, Man of Tomorrow se ambientará aproximadamente dos años después de los eventos de Superman. Y es que el cineasta ha prometido que el desarrollo del Universo DC se da, más o menos, en tiempo real. Es decir, la mencionada película transcurrirá aproximadamente en verano de 2027.

Esto supone un salto temporal notable en la saga. Sobre todo porque en el Universo DC no paran de suceder cosas y el status quo cambia con cada nuevo estreno. Por ejemplo, mientras que en la primera película del Hombre de Acero vimos cómo el malvado Lex Luthor acababa en prisión, después en Peacemaker descubríamos cómo comenzaba a colaborar con el gobierno.

Así las cosas, el personaje de Nicholas Hoult llegará a Man of Tomorrow siendo el coprotagonista y teniendo que aliarse con el propio Superman. Porque aunque sean enemigos acérrimos, frente a ellos llegará una amenaza aún máyor que podría acabar para siempre con la Tierra y con los propósitos de héroe y villano. Se trata de Brainiac, personaje que debutó en los cómics de DC allá por 1958 como villano del Action Comics #242.

Se trata de un androide extraterrestre de raza coluana que estudia y colecciona conocimiento de otras civilizaciones. Además de su impresionante inteligencia, cuentan con fuerza sobrehumana, poderes telepáticos y telequinéticos, así como acceso a una tecnología muy avanzada. Era incluso capaz de reducir ciudades enteras y almacenarlas en botellas, siendo el ejemplo más famoso Kandor, la capital del planeta Krypton. Es un brillante estratega y un genio del mal que ha conquistado y gobernado civilizaciones enteras a su antojo. incluso en algunas continuidades es el responsable de la destrucción de Krypton.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow se estrena en cines el 9 de julio de 2027.
