It's particularly confusing that the #umich president claimed these were "remarks regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict that were hurtful and insensitive to many members of our community," which might make sense if this were a grade school graduation as small children should be sheltered from the horrors of was (in Gaza as well, I assume).

However, this was a college graduation and the remarks were intended to highlight the risky work students undertook to transform their community.

I for one appreciate how pro-Palestinian activists opened our hearts and eyes to the inhumanity of Israel's war in Gaza. I'm not sure what part of that #umich thinks it should be apologizing for.

It would clearly be against the university's mission to ignore a massive humanitarian catastrophy and the policies (American and Israeli) that enable it. Did I miss something? Can somebody explain this to me?

#Canvas has been hijacked.

Attackers broke into #Instructure's systems & demanded a ransom to keep them from locking down the popular #LMS. Supposedly, Instructure applied security patches instead, which were ineffective against these criminals. Then the #pirates locked down the system & demand a ransom to not publicly release all the Canvas user organizations' data and unlock the system. #UMich is only one of the orgs using Canvas. There are many others.

ICYMI University of Michigan professor #DerekPeterson said one nice thing about peaceful protesters (at 4:30 in this clip) so of course the fashies shit their pants and UM President Demonico* Grasso did an apology tour and scrubbed the comments from the record but the prof said what he said and I'm proud of him and to hell with those who want him silenced. “The greatness of this institution does not only rest on the shoulders and on the accomplishments of our student athletes, who deserve all the congratulations we can offer them,” Peterson said. “The greatness of this university rests also on the courage and the conviction of student activists who have pushed this university down the path towards justice.”

It seems likely that this is one of the reasons he was picked up; in addition to his opposition of the current US-Iran war. https://www.linkedin.com/in/yousofazizi/
