The University of Michigan is hosting a town hall on the proposed Ypsilanti Township data center tonight, January 29, from 5PM to 7PM in the Roy Wilbanks Ballroom at the Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest.

#UMich researchers use #AI to analyze #Detroit traffic flows using anonymized GPS data and compute new timings to synchronize traffic lights. Then they physically load the timing data into traffic lights. They hope to be able to remotely update traffic light data in the future.

Got the chance to hear and meet Karen Hao today at the her #umich guest lecture. She provides an exceptional account of how the insanities of #AI have taken hold in the US, and many grounded ideas into how we can resist and govern their existence, in her book "Empire of AI."
As she mentions in the book and in her lecture, the future is not predictable, nor should it be. We as technologists should be reactive and attentive to change, and shape our systems of technology in response. @karenhao
