Great news! @chockenberry, the creator of the great #Twitteriffic—which Elon Musk destroyed—is releasing a new app called #Tapestry.

It will integrate #blogs, the #Fediverse, and #RSS into a unified and chronological timeline!

So I was happy to discover that the app Downie (https://software.charliemonroe.net/downie/ #MacOS) in addition to letting me grab videos off YouTube, also allows me to grab them off Twitter, which is a feature of #Twitteriffic I’d been missing.
That’ll be worth the purchase price alone.

Video downloader for macOS with support for YouTube and other 1200 sites.

‪So Reddit is going to start charging a crippling fee for use of its API, threatening the very existence of a popular third-party client:

Another example of the risks that come with building a business on top of someone else's privately controlled platform. Just ask The Icon Factory and Tapbots. I hope the makers of the MimeStream GMail app are paying attention.

Time to open your favorite Twitter client a final time, and to forego this refund. Only few people will notice, so this is only more important. https://daringfireball.net/2023/03/tweetbot_and_twitterrific_face_the_cliff

Tweetbot and Twitterrific Face the Cliff

There is something noble about two longtime rivals — competitors, yes, but with nothing but deep respect and camaraderie for each other — facing this terrible cliff together, with dignity and grace, considering their users first, as ever.

Twitter just recommended I follow @[email protected] A little late to the party? Or should I say wake? #rip #twitteriffic

TIL running a web server from your iPad can be a thing. https://blog.iconfactory.com/2022/06/worldwideweb-part-2/ - brings back so many memories of circa-2000 HTML/CSS web tinkering.

I’m sad that I found out only because of #twitteriffic’s demise.

Thank you so much @chockenberry , for all your contributions!

WorldWideWeb, Part II • The Breakroom

The Mac and Web have a long history together. From the very beginning, Mac OS X included the ability to run an Apache web server by clicking a Start button: About a decade ago, things started to change. Since then it’s gotten harder and harder to start a simple web server for testing HTML, CSS, […]

Previous boost: I just bought the Twitterrific Ollie T, and since I was logged in to Cotton Bureau, got a second shirt of the Scriptnotes “three-act structure” design, since I’m always going on about Second-Act Trouble. #twitteriffic #screenwriting #threeactstructure https://cottonbureau.com/p/2DVDUV/shirt/three-act-structure#/2192314/tee-men-standard-tee-vintage-navy-tri-blend-s
Three-Act Structure by Scriptnotes Podcast

If a screenplay is like a blueprint for a movie, this t-shirt is like a blueprint for a blueprint, which is pretty damn meta. Designed by Scriptnotes listener Taino Soba, this shirt is a handy way of showing you know a thing or two about act breaks and proper brad insertion.

@donw @Sonikku Agree, up until the sale, Twitter was seemingly happy to largely ignore the 3rd party clients ‘issue’. I always assumed Twitter Blue was a path to paid API access without ads so assumed some change would be on the cards.

Perhaps had that been the case, the Twitter Blue market for apps like #tweetbot and #twitteriffic would have been too small to address anyway. Hard to know, and we are where we are anyway I suppose. 🤷‍♂️

Happy to move on, too. 🙂

@gedeonm I’ve had Linea on my iPad for years. Sadly, I’m not much of artist so I rarely have the opportunity to use it but I subscribed today to help with the loss of #Twitteriffic
