@draselxl macOS for productivity and work, Linux for home and gaming. After getting a taste of productivity apps on macOS, it's hard to use inferior applications. #Mimestream for mail, #Fantastical for calendar, #Things for GTD, #Bear for notes, #Nova for code editor, #Ivory for Mastodon are probably my core. There are tons of other apps that make my life easier, but these are the ones I miss the most. My personal computers are both #Linux though. Great for home and gaming.
On the iOS #mimestream beta ! Wow it's excellent :)
@james I use Linux in two of my three personal computers and a Mac Studio for the third. I was offered a 14/16 MBP or a 15 ThinkPad with Windows/Linux and I still went with the MBP. For account management having access to proper email and calendar is a must for me. Unfortunately all of the mail/calendar apps in Windows or Linux are complete junk. I'll stay where I can use #fantastical and #mimestream.
Giving #Mimestream another chance, but I'm still not sold on it without an iPhone app. The Mac app is fantastic, works really well, and it's *fast* but I really cannot do without the same email experience on my phone.
As someone that uses #linux for two-thirds of my personal computers and was offered a Linux laptop for work. I chose an #Apple #MacBookPro for my work computer. I love Linux, but work productivity is hindered. Every mail and calendar app on Linux SUCKS! If my work life were not completely dictated by my calendar and email, it would be easy to give up #macos. But unless I had #fantastical, #mimestream, or #airmail, it's a hard pass. I'm all ears if I'm missing something.

@grymas_tysiaclecia Ad.

@haskman I feel like using #linux for work is like swimming with both hands tied behind my back. Productivity apps on #macos are so much better. #fantastical and #mimestream being my two biggest needed apps, both calendar and mail apps just SUCK in #linux. Then #GTD apps like #Things are used quite heavily. But, I personally use Linux on my personal desktop and laptop for gaming and everything else.
@santisbon macOS has better apps overall for mail #mimestream, calendar #fantastical, mastodon #ivory @ivory. I think if you look at #plasma or #Hyprland they can easily be more “beautiful” than #macos.

I really like Mimestream but I cancelled my subscription renewal. I've been moving away from Gmail lately and have been using macOS Mail.app again.

And if I'm being honest, as nice as Mimestream is, it is not “$50/year better than Mail.app" nice.

This is tough because Mimestream is great and was free to use in beta for years. But I was disappointed that it joined the "everything is a subscription now" bandwagon.

Also I still don't know what “mimestream" means.
