Sarah FarooquiWhen it comes to #gender & #power dynamics in #patriarchal settings, almost all issues are #normative & #socio-cultural. There is no single switch-on solution. However, one of the most imp things that mildly pushes the envelope, is plain ol economic empowerment of women. But this needs to translate to individual accounts and financial + spending autonomy, which is then interlinked back to the normative.
No point having individual income or a bank account, if the spending decision and finances are controlled by someone else, and the woman is dependent on that control, even if it is her income. But this is sadly, the broad reality across patriarchal settings where #women are earning.
