Have always said #cats need to start their own version of zen or religion.

“Maybe independence isn’t about earning more, owning more, proving more. Maybe it’s about resting when you’re tired. Saying no when it doesn’t feel right. Leaving the room without explanation.

Become a cat. Not in laziness — but in self-trust. Not in detachment — but in presence. Not in solitude — but in sovereignty.”

I am making notes for things I might put in a future exhibition of books illustrated in books, as I happen across them. There are lots of depictions of books in medieval manuscripts, but I think this is the first one I've seen where the book has a tiny but recognizable illustration. (The full IRL page is less than six inches tall.) https://nrs.lib.harvard.edu/urn-3:fhcl.hough:753821?n=2

The amount of bad news that I could be sharing with you, if I chose to, is much greater than what you actually see here on my page. Every day I have to filter through all the items I find, looking for those that seem to me the most relevant and most important for readers to know, not simply those that are the most alarming or most sensationalist.

I’m not trying to scare people — well, maybe I am trying to scare people — but the point is not simply for you to be frightened, but to take action in the face of a looming disaster.

Wildlife rehabilitation workers have to wrap up sharp-clawed owls during treatment for their own protection as well as the owls’. And then they take pictures for their blog Owls in Towels. https://owlsintowels.org via @metafilter

Which is actually just unrestrained rants against liberal education, thought, art, or expression, and complete dismissal of scientific reasoning and values, or civic norms.
