Hello Lovely Peeps!

It is a bee-youuuu-ti-ful day here! And it has been a nice weekend overall. ๐Ÿ˜Š

#ThreeGoodThings

1/ My walking partner had to miss one day this week, but we were back on track today. The 'once around the block' thing is definitely not happening; we are out for at least half an hour every time - but that's okay! That's a good thing!! ๐Ÿ’ช

2/ Yesterday was 'Yard Sale Day' here: I made it as far as one place where I bought five heavy denim panels to use as black-out curtains - I think they are going to work very well! Jjust what I wanted, the price was right, & available only half a block down the street. ๐Ÿ˜„

3/ I *also* picked up a carpetbag embroidered with ladybugs and daisies!! ๐Ÿž ๐ŸŒผ ๐Ÿž ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿž ๐Ÿคฉ

I absolutely didn't need it, but c'mon! LADYBUGS and DAISIES!!

(It *is* nice. And it means I now have a single piece of luggage that isn't a backpack signalling poor student hitchhiking to get home. ๐Ÿ˜„)

Today is going to be an easy day of chopping wood & carrying water.

The last of the curtains are in the laundry (they were clean, but washed in a strong-smelling detergent. I'm washing them again & trying to air-dry them outside.)

General cleaning & tidying.

I need to make lentils, soup, or similar to carry me through the next few days.

My second mid-term is this Friday, so need to study for that.

But it is such a beautiful day that all those things seem not just possible, but easy to do. ๐Ÿฅฐ

I hope you are all having a good day too!

Cod and mashed potato paste with oven roasted tomato on garlic toast with a carpaccio of sliced courgette with shirasu and parmesan topping for supper tonight.

From an old Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall recipe. Oldies but goodies! ๐Ÿ…

1) 56 times around the sun, as of a couple of hours ago.
2) 16-yo wanted to learn how to lift weights, so we got to do that together. (Sheโ€™s been doing cardio stuff with mom.) Felt like sharing a secret rite of passage, as silly as that sounds, and it made me feel proud for both of us.
3) The final #ColbertQuestionnert was funny and moving.

1) Had dinner with a friend two nights in a row. We tried to get Japanese tonight, but the wait was so longโ€ฆ it worked out since I ended up with a teri chicken sandwich at our usual restaurant. Yesterday was grilled salmon with Greek salsa. ๐Ÿ˜‹

2) Another friend of mine is on vacation in Japan and will hopefully have a great time!

3) It is a 3-day weekend, with 2 more days left to go, and Iโ€™ve got dinner plans on Monday with a former classmate. ๐Ÿ’™

Three good things for today: 5/23/2026

1. Made good progress on my woodworking project.
2. Although temps were in the upper 80s (F), a nice breeze keep things comfortable while woodworking in the garage and chilling on the patio for a bit afterwards.
3. Got caught up watching yesterday's and today's Formula 1 auto racing.*

Bonus:
4. Ran a load of laundry.

*Tomorrow's priority is, of course, The Indy 500.

Welcoming peace in knowing there are fewer chapters.

Nostalgic research brings me joy. (i.e. searching archives for adverts or catalogs featuring things from past generations).

My chives are preparing to bloom.

1. Potstickers.

2. Progress on curating digital photos. It's a never-ending challenge, so progress is a good thing.

3. The Kindle app announced that as of today I have read in the app at least a little bit every day for 1000 days. Sometimes it's just a page or two to keep the streak going. One of the best helpers for that is the book Tiny Moments of Joy by @georgepenney

1.) Giving myself grace and time to rest when I need it.
2.) Gardening, dirt is a great hobby.
3.) Students putting their best foot forward.
