Studio Tunic finally made it out of the WIP pile! I started this months ago but hit a snag when all the neck and armhole facings were 2cm short (at least I am consistent). Switched to bias binding; made my own from a batch of fat quarters I had for a pillow project that never materialized. Seams are Frenched and all the bias binding is understitched. It is sturdy! I'm still not sure about the fit; it's a bit larger than it needs to be but I think it will work with boots and a bit of styling. Made from thrift store linen. I am pleased with this make. I made the most of the long weekend and sewed jersey covers for four yoga bolsters (so soft - I wish I had done this sooner), repaired a tank top, finished the arms holes in a dress I had modified, and repaired a skirt hem.

I have another pattern waiting in the wings and some more second hand fabric in my stash! Onward!

That moment over May long weekend when you realize that it's #MeMadeMay and you need to clear your sewing pile. Though unclear from the perspective, those two wrinkly cushions are actually the same size. Two 2kg yoga weights (sand bags but I used rice) that have been on my to-sew list for restorative yoga props for ages. I left a little space in case I want to add another kg. Very lovely! I am going to make a set of long, thin rectangular ones to go with these. The pillows in the background are also me made. I have a matching meditation cushion in the same fabric. Thrifted fabric and way cheaper than store bought yoga props.

Also, hemmed two curtains, made a camera strap, repaired two bags, repaired two stuffies damaged by the pup, made a lanyard for satellite messenger, ripped and redid the neckline of the studio tunic, made a few metres of bias binding, and started on finishing the studio tunic armholes/hem. Phew. Not too shabby.

Slow fashion in progress. Finished the arm and neck hole facings for the studio tunic. Not a fan of interfacing so I used printed cotton from fat quarters I had. Frenched the seams. Made some bias binding to hem it. So much ironing.

None of this will be visible in the finished piece! Secret pretty, all for me.

A little progress on the Studio Tunic! Everything is put together, French seams. I just need to hem it and finish the neck and arm holes. I am still undecided about the pockets.

Not too shabby for some thrift store fabric.

Pup was insistent that I give her belly scritches! Didn't want to wait for me to finish cutting out my pattern. There are worse ways to be interrupted!

Practicing moving slowly with this make. Welcoming the interruptions. I'm doing Sew Liberated's Studio Tunic. I have a soft spot for pinafores with pockets!

Both #SewLiberated and #HelensCloset are excellent in the #pockets department! I made the Sew Liberated #StudioTunic, their version of the pinafore/tunic. It's kind of great but I'm really not a tunic person. Trying to figure out how to hack it into a dress but I think that's beyond my current pattern drafting skills. Also, the #pockets on this and the #GypsumSkirt are too low for safely carrying a phone. Really trying to figure out the #pocket sweet spot!
Extremely fashionable #MeMadeMay2023 look here. Off to the gym by bike for #weightlifting wearing my #StudioTunic as a coverup. #sewing #cycling #BikeToot
#MeMadeMay2023 #MMIWG #NoMoreStolenSisters This #StudioTunic by #SewLiberated taught me a lot. Biggest thing being is that tunics and layering are not my thing. The pockets, made with cotton bought in #Vietnam and #Bali are too low and the inner pocket needs to be bigger to safely hold my phone. I liked making the tunic itself with thrifted sheets, even though the facings were a bit fussy. This is the reddest piece of clothing I own for #RedDressDay2023. Worn with a #TruthAndReconciliation tee.

I like the silhouette of the dress but not the deep dive of the neckline. I wonder how it would do with a bib sewn into that gap? You could pin a chunk of cloth in there and see how that looks.

I made a #StudioTunic and really like a lot of features of the design but realized that I'm NOT a tunic person! Will try to draft a dress that incorporates some of the features, after completing the next 20 projects in my queue.
