At the end of 1999, I watched a documentary about the meat industry where I saw for the first time how animals are actually treated. I saw so much suffering and horror that it went straight into my soul, how could I ever live with myself if I accepted what I had just seen? In 2000 I became a vegetarian and in 2009 I took the step to veganism. In other words, I have refused meat for 25 years now. Has it done any practical good? Probably not. It has mostly just made my own life a little more difficult. But I can't forget what I saw and how I felt.

Starmer's one-sided stance, with his willingness to allow the slaughter of thousands of innocent civilians to continue, should rightfully see party members end their membership.

It's worth remembering that the number of dead killed by Israeli retribution bombing of Gaza is not the full story nor will it be the final count. The numbers of wounded are significantly higher than the immediate death toll and that matters.

When your hospitals are starved of medical supplies, when they have been destroyed, when they have been closed for lack of fuel - what hope of the wounded taken there actually recovering?
