I’ve woken up to find people are already taking apart that car crash #Newsnight interview on #AI with #LizKendall:

If you want to see some car crash tv, watch Friday’s episode of #Newsnight.
Liz Kendall (Science and Technology Secretary) being interviewed while being driven around in an #AI operated car (except a human driver has quietly taken over by the end of the interview).
She’s trying to big up the opportunities for business, but states bluntly several times she never uses AI for work, just personal stuff…
The guy sat silently next to her, does this thing with his eyeballs as she talks utter $hit.
Do people with a better grasp of other areas watch #Newsnight with the same despair I do whenever they touch tech, recently social media and 'AI' (and tell me the whole world is excitedly following Artemis two)? I don't think they've ever mentioned privacy or surveillance, or sham regulation from the #ICO.
I don't know whether to feel sorry for the people who regurgitate bullshit PR or to despise them for their lack of a nose for truth. This is the "BBCs flagship news programme".
So much bollocks about #AI [in quotes] on BBC #Newsnight right now.
An 'expert' who agrees that Claude Mythos is "already out there" and talks about the rapid rates of AI improvement, and agreement across the panel that #Anthropic and #OpenAI are "global powers" more powerful than the UK government.
Also, complete acceptance that #LLMs are replacing skilled s/w engineers.
Apparently lots of MPs watch this rubbish [my head in my hands]. And for this comment to get heard I must use WhatsApp 🤦♂️
