The CSD Pride Month in June is an annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, tracing back to the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City when people first fought against discrimination. It has since evolved into global parades, events, and demonstrations promoting LGBTQ+ rights.

Yesterday went to see #Stonewall survivor #MartinBoyce talk about the start of the USA #LGBTQ rights movement, the cultural climate of New York in the late 1960s and what came after. He's a phenomenal public speaker, I was fully ensnared for the duration and didn't want to leave when it was done. Can't recommend enough if you get a chance to go to one of his talks.

As we celebrate #Gay #Pride #Stonewall50 this weekend let us not forget that there are many #LGBTQ folks who are still being oppressed, often violently. This is Istanbul, Turkey just four years ago.
