L’apertura di Vladimir Putin sulla fine della guerra e il dialogo con l’Unione Europea? Dalla Germania la risposta è fredda, quasi gelida. A Berlino domina lo scetticismo dopo le parole del leader russo sul conflitto in Ucraina che “può finire a breve” e sull’ex cancelliere tedesco Gerhard Schröder, proposto come negoziatore. Fonti del governo tedesco, citate dall’agenzia Dpa, hanno confermato di aver preso atto delle dichiarazioni, definite parte di una serie di false offerte che rientrano nella ben nota strategia ibrida della Russia.
“La Germania e l’Europa non si lasceranno dividere – hanno detto rilanciando – Un primo test di credibilità sarebbe per la Russia prorogare la tregua”. Una mossa, quest’ultima, caldeggiata da Donald Trump e respinta al mittente dal Cremlino nella giornata di sabato. Silenzio invece, dall’ufficio di Schröder, figura controversa per la sua amicizia con Putin e i diversi incarichi a lungo ricoperti in aziende legate al potere moscovita. In un editoriale dei mesi scorsi, Schröder ha bollato come contraria al diritto internazionale l’invasione russa dell’Ucraina, aggiungendo però che “sono anche contrario a demonizzare la Russia come nemico eterno”.
Intanto, i canali diplomatici statunitensi restano aperti. Secondo quanto affermato dal consigliere presidenziale russo Yuri Ushakov, in un’intervista con il giornalista Pavel Zarubin rilanciata dall’agenzia di stampa russa Tass, gli inviati Usa Steven Witkoff e Jared Kushner si recheranno presto a Mosca e il dialogo tra Cremlino e Casa Bianca sulla risoluzione della crisi ucraina proseguirà. Ushakov, tuttavia, è tornato ad affermare che la Russia non farà marcia indietro sulla sua richiesta che le truppe di Kiev si ritirino dalla regione del Donbass: “Finché non compirà questo passo, potremo tenere ancora diversi cicli, decine di cicli (di negoziati, ndr), ma rimarremo bloccati al punto di partenza”.

Vladimir Putin’s opening on ending the war and dialogue with the European Union? The response from Germany is cold, almost glacial. In Berlin, skepticism dominates after the Russian leader’s words on the conflict in Ukraine that “can end soon” and the proposal of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder as a negotiator. Sources from the German government, cited by the Dpa agency, confirmed they had taken note of the statements, defined as part of a series of false offers that fall within Russia’s well-known hybrid strategy.
“Germany and Europe will not be divided – they reiterated – A first test of credibility would be for Russia to extend the ceasefire.” This last move, pushed by Donald Trump and rejected at the sender’s address by the Kremlin on Saturday. Silence, meanwhile, from Schröder’s office, a controversial figure for his friendship with Putin and his various long-held positions in companies linked to Moscow power. In a commentary months ago, Schröder branded the Russian invasion of Ukraine as contrary to international law, adding however that “I am also opposed to demonizing Russia as an eternal enemy.”
Meanwhile, U.S. diplomatic channels remain open. According to what was stated by Russian presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov, in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin relayed by the Russian news agency Tass, U.S. envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner will soon visit Moscow and dialogue between the Kremlin and the White House on resolving the Ukrainian crisis will continue. Ushakov, however, reiterated that Russia will not back down on its demand that Ukrainian troops withdraw from the Donbass region: “As long as it does not take this step, we can still hold several cycles, dozens of cycles (of negotiations, ed.) but we will remain stuck at the starting point.”
