I'm attending a harvest work party at Rake & Radish local farm in #Saanich on Wednesday morning til early afternoon. It's a small scale #QueerOwned farm. It's only 10 minutes from my home. I believe in what this small local farm is doing. I want to actively support them, with my boots & cane on their small farm grounds.

"Rake and Radish is a small-scale farm growing a wide range of vegetables, as well as berries and flowers, on half-acre plot at the base of PKOLS on unceded lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ territories.

At Rake and Radish Farm, I aim to queer farming and make fresh, delicious vegetables more accessible to people in our community.

I operate with a triple bottom line: environmental, financial, and emotional. This means holistic success that takes into account more than just the financial success of the farm operation. Regenerative land stewardship, a fulfilling social life, relationships, and time to recharge are all part of the farm’s measure of success."

This is the garden I created at our previous home, it was beautifully messy and a home to so much wildlife. This area is about half an acre and produced sufficient food for my little family, and I also ran a small CSA veg box business supplying vegetables, herbs and occasionally fruit to 20 families in the local area for 22 weeks a year.
